Legal Procedures
Before registering your marriage in Thailand, contact your embassy to establish what legal
documents you require. It takes at least one week in Thailand to acquire and process the necessary
documentation. Below are the steps for weddings in Thailand that are recognized abroad.
-
Have your embassy in Thailand issue a certificate, in English, for the bride and groom.
-
Have these certificates legally translated into Thai at a law office or certified legal
translator.
-
Take the original documents from steps 1 and 2 to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in
Bangkok for validation and stamps on all pages.
Note: Plan on four working days (excluding weekends and Thai public holidays) in Bangkok for steps
1-3. We recommend you make appointments with the authorities to ensure the documents are issued
on time.
-
The final step is receiving a wedding certificate in Samui. The wedding couple can either go to City
Hall to sign the official documents, or invite the authorities to the hotel to include the signing as part
of the wedding ceremony.

Below is a synopsis of our fantastic experience in planning unforgettable weddings.
Thai Style Wedding on 14th July 2007
For Tony and Debbie from Scotland
Debbie, Tony and his son walked into our lobby one day and explained that they would like a
Thai style wedding at a hotel. After being turned down by other hotels, because of the limited time to
plan the event and a tight budget, the couple almost gave up.
Only a week had gone by since our grand opening, but we succeeded in planning a gorgeous
wedding for the happy couple.
Thai Style Wedding on 28th August 2007
For Grant and Nicola from Australia and their 20 guests
Grant and Nicola were our original first wedding, before Tony and Debbie beat them to the
punch. Our Australian couple contacted us via email and we helped them plan their wedding for
nearly eight months. The wedding was a great success, since it gave everyone a chance to learn from
our previous experience and double the enchantment for the newly weds.
None Religious Wedding on 20th October 2007
For J and Pui Pui from Hong Kong and their 140 guests
A non religious wedding which was by far the biggest wedding ever held at Kandaburi. It all
began with the couple walking down the beach looking for a venue for their wedding reception.
Noticing that "The green fence come down" we were newly opened; they walked in-surprisingly on
the very same day of Tony and Debbie's visit- and asked if they could tie the knot at the hotel. Over
the next eight months, the couple from Hong Kong discussed the planning and after two visits for a
confirmation, the wedding was simply perfect.
Thai Style Wedding on 7 January 2007
For Canan and Emrem from Turkey and their 4 guests.
After communicating via email, consulting our information and reference pictures, our Turkish
couple confirmed their decision to get married at our hotel a week after New Year.
Even though there were thoughts of canceling the event due to bad weather conditions, our prayers
were answered and the rain stopped.
Thai Style Wedding on 8th February 2007
For Mikko and Minna from Finland and their 35 guests.
Another addition to our email planned weddings.
The couple from Finland made their decision and was thrilled by the refined and elegant
reception.
Thai Style Wedding on 20 February 2007
For Motern and Renate from Norway and their 14 guests.
After informing the couple about the available options offered at Kandaburi as a wedding
venue, we communicated through emails and made a decision. The wedding was stunning,
particularly when the groom appeared on an elephant to meet his bride
Thai Style Wedding on 2nd March 2007
For Mark and Rozmin from Canada and their 10 guests.
The simple, yet high in color wedding were also planned over the internet. The couple chose
an East meets West menu for a romantic dinner by the beach and was preceded by the wedding
ceremony. The latter was highlighted by a Thai long drum parade which accompanied the bride to
the altar.
Catholic Wedding on 14th March 2007
For Brett and Celia from Australia and their 40 guests.
Brett and Celia are acquaintances of our travel agent in Australia and we were extremely
pleased to host their wedding reception. The ceremony was held at the St Ana. Catholic Church in
Nathorn. After they tied the knot, the newly weds headed to our hotel for cocktails, canapés and
dinner.
The Unicorn band provided the entertainment for the evening and everyone had a wonderful time.
Another successful
None-Religious Wedding on 30th March 2007
FOR Gavin and Lauren from Australia and Scotland respectively and their 30 guests
We had been planning the non religious wedding for the handsome couple for about 8
months and the result was astounding. It was a simple yet elegant wedding which peaked when
Lauren and Gavin exchanged their vows, rings and toasted with Sparking Wine.
None-Religious Wedding on 23rd , 2008
For Robert and Mayumi from Chez Republic and Japan respectively and their 20 guests.
A beautiful story which clearly illustrates that love knows no frontiers or boundaries. The
gorgeous, non religious wedding brought two cultures together and the happy couple was radiant and
utterly satisfied.

For Eric and Myriam
Thai & Indian Wedding Ceremony on 13 July 2007
